GIANASSO OUR COMPANY

TURN YOUR PASSION INTO A JOB.
WE WANT TO REPRESENT THE ALTERNATIVE TO MASS INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION.

This is how the laboratory where the first soaps of our company were manufactured was brought to life by the founder’will, Doctor Domenico Gianasso.

It was the early 60s in Savona.

The products were sold in local markets. The move to the Genoa office towards the end of the 70s did not alter the artisan vocation of our company which enriched its identity with a new Ecologist philosophy.

OVER 50 YEARS WITH YOU

A modern and efficient company, where we jealously guard the passion and craftsmanship for true natural cosmetics.

THE COMPANY: SAPONIFICIO GIANASSO

1965. In a small artisan workshop, Domenico Gianasso, the founder of Saponificio Gianasso, transformed his passion into a profession by producing the first artisan soaps. It was the early 1960s, a period of economic boom, especially in Liguria Region, a land of olive trees and ports, where exotic businesses merged with local traditions. These elements gave way to the first soap productions by using olive, coconut and palm oil. Towards the end of the 1970s, with the birth and diffusion of innovative markets such as the Herbal Market and the Natural Shops, the Company thus became a point of reference also for small businesses operating in that sector and in that of pharmacies.

THE BRAND: I PROVENZALI

In 1998 new partners joined the company and the brand I Provenzali was born. The idea of proposing natural, organic and eco-sustainable cosmetics, of enhancing the artisan identity and making Quality products accessible to the general public, still lies at the basis of the brand’s philosophy. This is how I Provenzali has become today a reference in the natural market inside the Italian large-scale distribution.

In 2017 Gianasso s.r.l. join Mirato Group: a new path for I Provenzali with new scenarios, opportunities and an increase of the distribution in the market. Mirato Group has maintained and protected the identity of the I Provenzali brand by respecting the underlying philosophy and indeed by boosting the sustainability of I Provenzali production.

QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENT

When principles mean organization and structure.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

When Gianasso began to grow, he needed an organization: and what could be better than that offered by a Quality Management System certifiable in accordance with the UNI EN ISO 9001 standard? This is how our certification was born, from a concrete need and not from the desire for a logo to be used for commercial purposes. Over time, our System is refined and developed following the needs of the Company: the procedures regulate all sectors and constitute a shared point of reference, while operating instructions and forms are a daily work tool.

GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICES – GMP

In 2016, Gianasso also obtained the ISO 22716 certification relating to Good Manufacturing Practices, confirming the compliance of its processing cycle with EC Regulation 1223/09.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

The protection of the environment and nature has always been in the corporate DNA: these principles inspired the restructuring of the Campomorone headquarters, following the criteria assumed as a cornerstone by the UNI EN ISO 14001 standards: energy and water saving, controlled and industrial waste disposal, prediction and management of all possible impacts of the company on the environment. Certifying the management system adopted immediately afterwards was therefore a natural consequence. Today, in our System, the management of Quality and Environment aspects is integrated with great attention to the Safety of employees and all those who frequent us (suppliers, maintenance workers, visitors, etc.), in a completely articulated architecture, even if not yet certified according to UNI EN ISO 45001.

BEING SUSTAINABLE COSMETIC MEANS TRACKING TO THE EARTH

In our opinion, there are some raw materials that we use for all the I Provenzali cosmetics in the Argan, Karité, Rose, and Aloe lines, which deserve to be traced with extra attention, identifying them as raw material with a potentially high risk of ethical impact. We have therefore decided to seal an “Ethical Pact” with our suppliers to protect the rights of the worker on site. This is what we mean by a potentially high-risk ethical impact supply chain in which the producer could use child and child labor, methods of obligation to work; it may fail to respect elementary health and safety practices, fail to guarantee freedom of association or a fair wage for a dignified life to its employees or even apply discriminatory practices and working hours that do not comply with local laws.

SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY CHAIN

We are committed to supply chain tracking projects to make our supply chain increasingly safe and transparent.

SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY CHAIN: HOW THE IDEA WAS BORN

We have always believed in and developed relationships of trust with our suppliers, price and quality of service are undoubtedly essential elements, but perhaps not unique, in the customer-supplier match. There are others, which in the long run can help make a difference, and among these the commitment to sustainability plays a key role. From this point of view, 2012 represents the year of the transition from generic awareness to specific action: the analysis of the supply chain, also in terms of commitment to sustainability, becomes a corporate priority.

PAY ATTENTION TO THE TERRITORY

Gianasso is a sustainable and integrated industrial presence with the local community.

I PROVENZALI AND THE ATTENTION TO THE TERRITORY

The story of Gianasso comes from soap, fully included in the Ligurian artisan tradition; a company that was born in Liguria Region and which has always had a very close link with its territory of origin. This is why I Provenzali cannot think of an industrial growth separate from the growth of its Region.

CREDIBILITY IS BASED ON CONCRETE FACTS

Open doors

I Provenzali periodically organizes guided tours for consumers and journalists, but above all for students of all schools, especially secondary schools, to get to know the artisan methods of production and the managerial strategies for brand enhancement up close.

II Provenzali for Genoa

The city of Genoa was severely hit by the flood in November 2014 and Gianasso, despite the damage directly suffered, involved his consumers with a fundraiser in favor of the White Cross of Genoa. The company has pledged to donate part of the profit from the sales of its cosmetics and has become the spokesperson for a Call to Action, inviting all consumers to make a donation. With the proceeds he contributed to the purchase of a new rescue vehicle, thus allowing the Genoese White Cross to return to help.

Eticlab

In 2010, Gianasso was co-founder of the EticLab network (promoted by the Genoa Chamber of Commerce), an apolitical and non-partisan association that promotes the idea and values of economic, social and environmental sustainability. The aim is to involve entrepreneurs, freelance professionals, cooperatives, companies and associations in the creation of a competitive and responsible business model. A real exchange of experiences therefore between economic subjects of different types and sectors that give life to new ethical projects for a more sustainable future.

Involvement of Suppliers for a more ethical supply chain

Gianasso’s main suppliers, 87% Italian, are periodically involved in special meetings to share increasingly sustainable innovations and strategies.

COMMUNITY APPROVED

All I Provenzali products are tested and approved directly by consumers.

FOCUS GROUP I PROVENZALI

I Provenzali periodically organizes consumer selection campaigns for the creation of specific Focus Groups, which work closely with our marketing experts and our technicians. The comparison with the I Provenzali Community is for us a precious stimulus for the continuous improvement of natural and organic cosmetics.

CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT

The involvement activities of the I Provenzali Community are varied and all very important: direct contact through the Consumer Service; conducting market research and surveys; creation of wish lists; product trials; choice of packaging; participation in blogs; partnership for tutorials and reviews on the web.

CREDIBILITY IS BASED ON CONCRETE FACTS

What is the most desired cosmetic? With the “#50ideas” initiative we have involved over 5,000 consumers to create the biggest BEAUTY WISH LIST ever! Ideas that have led to the creation of new cosmetics such as the Aloe Organic Line.

Market research

In collaboration with Microsoft Italy, we supported La Nuvola Rosa and designed the ideal Beauty-App for young consumers: over 200 girls were involved in extensive market research on consumption styles and preferences in the cosmetic sector of the new generations. Furthermore, we often collaborate with leading Italian universities to organize specific customer satisfaction surveys. Finally…how not to mention our famous Mini-Polls on Facebook.

DIY cosmetics with zero food impact

On the occasion of Expo Milano 2015, we invited all our consumers to propose recipes for DIY cosmetics with zero food impact. The recipe “with apple peel” was judged the best and its creator, Arianna, received an annual supply of I Provenzali cosmetics for 100% natural beauty all year round!
